ABOUT THE ORGANISATION AND THE ROLE

Global Parts is a wholesaler and leading supplier and distributor of specialist replacement parts for VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Opel products as well as other leading manufacturers in South Africa and Southern Africa.

The Cape Town team is seeking an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Team Leader to join their Branch in Epping. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the warehouse team and ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse. This includes receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, stock control, housekeeping, and maintaining a safe working environment while delivering exceptional customer service. This role is suited for someone who is flexible and adaptable in a dynamic operational environment.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Warehouse Operations

  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the warehouse team.
  • Allocate daily workloads and monitor team productivity.
  • Ensure the accurate receiving, checking and binning of incoming stock.
  • Oversee internal branch transfers (IBTs), customer returns and stock movements.
  • Ensure the accurate processing of warehouse documentation, including invoices, IBTs, RFCs and delivery paperwork.

2. Inventory Control & Stock Accuracy

  • Conduct daily cycle counts and assist with weekly, monthly and annual stock takes.
  • Investigate stock variances and report discrepancies to the Branch Supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using Sage ERP.

3. Team Leadership & Performance

  • Train, coach and support warehouse staff to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Monitor attendance, discipline and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Foster a positive, accountable and high-performing team environment.

4. Safety, Housekeeping & Compliance

  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse in line with 5S principles.
  • Enforce Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and safe working practices.
  • Ensure warehouse equipment and facilities are maintained, reporting any maintenance requirements promptly.

5. Operational Support & Customer Service

  • Handle customer and internal operational queries professionally and efficiently.
  • Assist the Branch Supervisor with operational planning and the achievement of warehouse KPIs.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve warehouse productivity, efficiency and stock accuracy.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal applicant will have the following competencies: 

1. Education & Qualification

  • Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
  • A Warehousing, Logistics, or Supply Chain qualification will be advantageous.

2. Work experience and industry exposure

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a warehouse environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team leader role.
  • Experience within the automotive parts industry will be a distinct advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and distribution processes.

3. Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills

  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • A flexible, self-driven individual who can work autonomously while maintaining open channels of communication with a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to deal professionally with customer queries and internal operational queries

4. Good Administration and Organisational Skills

  • Organised and efficient with strong attention to detail.
  • An individual who places a strong emphasis on accuracy in their work.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experienced in the implementation and improvement of systems and processes.

5. Specific Requirements

  • Must be able to lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Forklift licence will be advantageous
  • Valid South African driver’s licence will be advantageous.
