1. Commit to 3 month training programme (Sunday mornings, one evening a week)
2. Be available to man a cell phone and answer calls when on duty (frequency will depend on the number of volunteers within the organisation)
3. Provide a listening ear to community members who call in.
4. Refer to service professionals as and when required.

• A background in psychology or counselling is a distinct advantage.
• Experience working in a similar organisation is an advantage. 

• A caring and compassionate individual with high levels of resilience.
• Trustworthy and reliable with the ability to manage confidential information in a discrete and sensitive manner
• Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with people at all ages and stages of life.
• Able to manage difficult situations and personalities in a calm and rational manner
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write reports
• An intuitive listener who is able to think on their feet and react to situations in a timely and appropriate manner.

• An organised and meticulous individual who is able to follow policies and procedures
• A flexible, self-driven individual who is able to work autonomously while maintaining open channels of communication with a team

• Ethics, integrity and confidentiality are paramount
• A passion for the Jewish Community and a demonstrated desire to give back.
