Global Fundraiser – UJC Cape Town
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION AND THE ROLE
The United Jewish Campaign (UJC) is the fundraising arm of the Cape South African Jewish community, supporting over 40 community organisations. UJC’s “We Are One” campaign, a strategic partnership with Care Services and its 7 member organisations, is a bold, high-impact crowdfunding initiative designed to unite and mobilise our community around a shared vision of collective responsibility and impact.
The purpose of the International Fundraiser is to build and sustain meaningful connections with international donors and diaspora communities, securing financial support that ensures the long-term vitality of Cape Town’s Jewish community. This role translates UJC’s vision into compelling opportunities for philanthropy, creating a strong, lasting bridge between local needs and international generosity.
This is a unique opportunity for a strategic thinker to play a lead role in a movement that brings community, generosity, and purpose together.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategy and Development
- Design and implement an international fundraising strategy aligned with UJC’s mission.
- Identify key diaspora communities and regions with donor potential (e.g. UK, USA, Israel, Australia).
- Set annual fundraising goals and growth metrics in collaboration with the Executive Team.
2. Relationship Building and Networking
- Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with international donors.
- Build meaningful connections through one-on-one meetings, small gatherings, parlor events, and tailored donor experiences.
- Ensure regular, high-quality communication with donors that reflects UJC’s tone and values.
- Serve as a visible and credible representative of UJC in the community and beyond.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with beneficiary organisations, community leaders, and partner agencies.
- Represent UJC at relevant local, national, and international forums.
- Work closely with the Executive Director, Board and fundraising team
3. Campaign and Events
- Plan and manage international fundraising campaigns and events (in-person and virtual).
- Collaborate with marketing to develop compelling messaging for global audiences.
4. Donor Services
- Oversee donor recognition, reporting, and impact communications
- Manage donor data, segmentation, and analysis using UJC’s CRM systems
- Manage post-campaign reporting, follow-ups, and pledge collections
- Drive innovation and ongoing improvement across fundraising, operations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Regularly evaluate organisational effectiveness, identifying opportunities to optimise impact and efficiency.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal applicant will have the following competencies:
1. Education and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business or related field
2. Work experience and industry exposure
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising, donor relations or philanthrophy (preferably with international donors or within a global Jewish context)
- Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and building long-term donor relationships.
- Experience using fundraising CRM systemsExperience working with diverse stakeholders and community groups
- Background in non-profits, NGOs, or community-focused initiatives a strong advantage.
3. Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Confident leader who can inspire and mobilise others with influence and persuasion
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Able to manage relationships with donors, volunteers, and partner organisations
- Strong focus on stewardship in making donors feel valued, ensuring their trust, showing how their money is used effectively, which increases donor retention and lifetime value.
- Encourage a culture of feedback, learning, and adaptability across the team and volunteer base.
4. Excellent Administration and Organisational Skills
- Highly organised, efficient with excellent time management
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple campaign streams simultaneously
- Competent in tracking campaign performance and donor data.

- Tech savvy; comfortable with CRMs, digital tools, and crowdfunding platforms
