Full-time, Hybrid, Permanent, Work

Posted 2 months ago

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION AND THE ROLE

Relate is a 100% not-for-profit social enterprise based in Cape Town, known for its impact-driven work in uplifting communities through the sale of handmade bracelets. As an organisation committed to creating sustainable change, Relate donates the majority of its revenue to credible causes while investing in employment and training opportunities for those in need.

Relate is looking for a hands-on, multi-skilled Financial Manager who will take full ownership of the finance function -from daily processing and bookkeeping to high-level financial oversight and strategic planning. This is a unique opportunity for a finance professional looking to move from the corporate sector into a purpose-led role with real social impact.

The successful candidate will need to be comfortable managing both detailed financial operations and engaging in high-level reporting and forecasting. While the role is currently a hybrid of bookkeeping and strategic finance tasks, the long-term plan is to grow the team, creating opportunities for leadership and mentorship in future.

1. Financial Operations & Compliance

  • Process weekly wages, manage staff loans and support payroll
  • Review and approve supplier orders and process supplier payments (incl. forex)

  • Reconcile order tracking spreadsheets and monthly shipping data
  • Analyse sales trends by region and manage customer statements
  • Update and maintain product costings, including annual pricing reviews.

4. Systems Implementation Support

  • Assist with ERP system migration by preparing and deconstructing data
  • Support development, testing, and rollout of new financial systems.

5. Relationship Management & Team Support

  • Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure financial alignment
  • Guide operational decisions where finance and production intersect (e.g., wage structures)
  • Support future team expansion by onboarding and mentoring junior finance staff.
