ABOUT THE ORGANISATION AND THE ROLE
SRG Security is a group of highly trained, highly focused armed response specialists who operate exclusively in hand-picked areas across Cape Town. The SRG financial team requires a debtor’s clerk to maintain accurate records, ensure all account information is up to date and improve debtor collections for the company.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure timely follow-up and collection of payments for monthly, quarterly (3-monthly), biannual (6-monthly), and annual client accounts.
- Perform and maintain age analysis of debtor accounts, ensuring outstanding balances are monitored and addressed promptly.
- Ensure the timely preparation and distribution of invoices and statements to facilitate the collection and recovery of outstanding debts.
- Follow up on overdue invoices and outstanding account balances to ensure efficient debt collection.
- Investigate and resolve account discrepancies, including the allocation of payments and reconciliation of customer accounts.
- Respond to client queries and correspondence via email in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate debtor records and ensure all account information is up to date.
- Perform any additional ad hoc duties as requested by management.
- Invoicing and banking functions.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal applicant will have the following competencies:
1. Work experience and industry exposure
- BCom Accounting Degree or Diploma in Accounting
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role is an advantage (Debtors is approximately 90% of the role )
- Training at an auditing firm (preferred)
- SAICA or SAIPA articles (preferred)
2. Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience handling confidential financial discussions with discretion and tact
- High levels of emotional intelligence.
3. Excellent Administration and Organisational Skills
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret statements, assess affordability
- Strong financial literacy to read financial statements
- Strong administrative skills and meticulous record-keeping.
4. General
- A natural investigator with persistence and curiosity
- Comfortable working independently
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Experience using Xero, Sage, and Pastel Advantage.
