ABOUT THE ORGANISATION AND THE ROLE

Ethne B is a well-established name in the South African retail and fashion industry, known for curating quality ladies, men’s and kids’ accessories imported from China and supplying the local retailers. As the team continues to grow, Ethne B is looking for a reliable and highly organised Buyer’s Assistant to support its dynamic buying department.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision, tech-savviness, and communication are key. You’ll work closely with buyers and suppliers, helping to streamline processes, manage admin, and support the wider team.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide daily support to buyers in managing buying processes.
  • Coordinate communication with suppliers and customers.
  • Handle data entry, documentation, and order tracking.
  • Prepare professional presentations and reports.
  • Assist in maintaining systems such as PLM and Horizon.
  • Work effectively in a collaborative, open-plan office environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

1. Work experience and industry exposure

  • Prior experience as a Buyer’s Assistant or high-level PA
  • Exposure to the retail or FMCG environment beneficial
  • Understanding of buying cycle timelines is advantageous
  • Experience with PLM and Horizon systems desirable
  • Experience with dealing with imports and understanding associated lead times is essential. 

2. Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

3. Excellent Administration and Organisational Skills

  • Strong multitasking and time management abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.

4. General

  • Fully computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Quick to learn new systems and technologies
  • Team player, comfortable working in an open-plan office
  • Self-motivated, focused, and deadline-driven.
