ABOUT THE ORGANISATION AND THE ROLE
The Green and Sea Point Hebrew Congregation, affectionately known as the Marais Road Shul, is recruiting for a seasoned and community-driven operations professional to oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Shul, ensuring effective management of people, resources, facilities and systems, while supporting the Rabbi and Shul leadership team in achieving their mission and strategic objectives.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operations & Reporting
- Manage systems and operations, including SharePoint and internal processes.
- Prepare reports for Manco and hold weekly meetings with leadership.
2. People & Team Management
- Lead and support the office and cross-functional teams.
- Conduct performance reviews and foster skills development.
- Promote collaboration and maintain strong HR practices.
- Managing approx 10 people.
3. Project Management & Marketing
- Oversee operational rollout of digital, CRM, and fundraising projects.
- Manage content creation and execution across social media and the website.
- Coordinate with designers, developers, and marketing stakeholders.
4. Facilities & Financial Oversight
- Oversee maintenance and supplier management for Shul properties.
- Manage budgets and track spending in liaison with Finance.
- Ensure effective procurement and vendor negotiations.
5. Event & Community Coordination
- Plan and execute events and the annual calendar in collaboration with partners.
- Liaise with Weizmann School and Alon Ashel for joint initiatives.
- Source volunteers and oversee function logistics.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal applicant will have the following competencies:
1. Work experience and industry exposure
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in operations or general management, preferably in a non-profit or community-based organisation.
- Proven ability to manage diverse teams, facilities, budgets, and operational systems.
- Experience working at a strategic and operational level with senior leadership and multiple stakeholders.
2. Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly with team members, community stakeholders, staff, volunteers, and religious leadership.
- Exceptional communication skills with a professional and diplomatic approach.
3. Excellent Administration and Organisational Skills
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into operational plans and measurable results.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality and efficiency.
4. General / Specific Requirements
- Proficiency in project management, budgeting, and reporting tools.
- Strong online systems skills and experience.
- Resilient, flexible, and calm under pressure.
- Hard working, driven by operational excellence and community impact.
