ABOUT THE ORGANISATION AND THE ROLE

JEWELL is an initiative dedicated to promoting holistic wellbeing and resilience within the Cape Town Jewish Community. Through events, a network of wellness practitioners, and innovative programming, JEWELL fosters connection, healing, and growth for individuals and families.

They are seeking a dynamic, organised Project Manager to oversee and implement key aspects of JEWELL’s work, including project planning, event management, communications, digital content creation, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, detail-oriented, and passionate about wellness, Jewish values, and community development.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Management & Strategy

  • Coordinate projects from initiation to completion, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Track timelines, budgets, and outcomes across multiple initiatives.
  • Support strategic planning and align operations with JEWELL’s mission.
  • Brainstorm ideas for wellness programming, campaigns, and partnerships.

2. Event Management

  • Plan and manage in-person and online JEWELL events.
  • Oversee event logistics, including liaising with venues, vendors, and speakers.
  • Manage event marketing, registration, communications, and post-event follow-ups.

3. Communications & Community Engagement

  • Maintain and update the JEWELL website (Wix), social media channels, and database.
  • Create and schedule digital content using Canva and Google tools.
  • Profile practitioners and publish event write-ups in community publications.
  • Launch and manage LinkedIn, WhatsApp groups, and newsletters.

4. Community Building & Research

  • Support relationship-building with community stakeholders and wellness practitioners.
  • Research and recruit potential JEWELL Network practitioners.

5. Fundraising & Reporting

  • Assist with grant applications, donor reporting, and funding proposals.
  • Track programme outcomes and prepare internal reports for stakeholders.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal applicant will have the following competencies: 

1. Work experience and industry exposure

  • Proven experience in project coordination, event planning, and community engagement.
  • Proficiency in Canva, Google Workspace, and Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Experience managing social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
  • Familiarity with Wix website editing (advantageous).
  • Experience in wellness, non-profit, or community-based programming (advantageous).

2. Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
  • Ability to create engaging digital content for diverse audiences.
  • Skilled in building relationships with stakeholders and community members.
  • Understanding of Jewish community values and culture.

3. Excellent Administration and Organisational Skills

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to track timelines, budgets, and outcomes across multiple initiatives.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and working independently.

4. General

  • Self-motivated, creative, and adaptable.
  • Experience using Canva for branded graphics and marketing materials.
  • Knowledge of email marketing tools and content scheduling platforms.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and work flexibly, including evenings/weekends when needed.
