Communications & Digital Engagement Manager
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION AND THE ROLE
A dynamic advocacy organisation committed to strengthening relationships between South Africa and Israel is seeking a highly skilled Communications & Digital Engagement Manager to oversee their communications strategy and execution across multiple platforms.
This role is ideal for a creative and strategic storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can deliver compelling campaigns that amplify the voice of the organisation, nationally and internationally.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead communications strategy end-to-end, from campaign concept to execution and analysis, ensuring messaging is timely, credible, and aligned with organisational values.
- Plan, create and manage digital campaigns across multiple platforms (organic and paid) to build awareness and engagement.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar in line with advocacy campaigns, events, and key dates.
- Manage all social media channels, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn—covering content creation, posting, community management, and analytics.
- Produce high-quality multimedia content, including videos, reels, podcasts, graphics, and infographics, optimised for different platforms.
- Design visual assets (social tiles, reports, brochures, newsletters) using Canva or Adobe Suite to ensure a consistent brand identity.
- Write and edit compelling copy for web, email, social media, press releases, and campaigns.
- Maintain and update website, ensuring SEO-friendly content and regular blog/news updates.
- Monitor news and activism trends in South Africa and internationally; prepare rapid-response content for live events or advocacy opportunities.
- Coordinate media relations, craft press releases, manage journalist and influencer lists, and pitch stories to mainstream and niche outlets.
- Support events and campaigns by developing messaging, media kits, live social media coverage, and post-event summaries.
- Build and manage a network of volunteer content creators and media specialists, including writers, designers, and videographers, to amplify campaigns.
- Track and report on KPIs (reach, engagement, growth, media pickups) and deliver monthly performance reports.

Manage small budgets and external service providers, including briefing and quality-checking designers, videographers, and PR freelancers.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal applicant will have the following competencies:
1. Work experience and industry exposure
- Atleast 5 –10 years experience in communications, digital content, or media environment (agency, NGO, or corporate).
- Proven track record in social media growth, content creation, and web management.
- Experience developing and executing integrated campaigns across multiple platforms.
2. Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Exceptional copywriting, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Ability to adapt tone and content for different audiences and platforms.
- Experience working with journalists, influencers, and diverse stakeholders.
3. Excellent Administration and Organisational Skills
- Strong project management and attention to detail.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience coordinating both internal teams and external freelancers.
4. Specific / General Requirements
- Proficiency in graphic design and video editing (Canva, Adobe Suite, CapCut, Premiere or similar).
- Knowledge of SEO, CMS platforms, and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp).
- Passion for Israel advocacy and an understanding of faith-based diplomacy.
- Right to work in South Africa; ability to work on-site in Cape Town (preferred; Johannesburg would be considered).
