ABOUT THE ORGANISATION AND THE ROLE
Fine Art Portfolio is an upmarket art gallery representing a collection of established art galleries in South Africa, with a gallery situated in the heart of Franschhoek, as well as an exciting short-term “pop-up” store at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal. The gallery caters to both locals and tourists alike and offering one of the largest selections of South African fine art as well as homewares. They are looking for experienced Sales Assistants to join these teams.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sales and Customer service: serve as an ambassador for the gallery and provide top class sales service to its customers; build positive and long-lasting relationships with customers.
- Housekeeping: ensure that the gallery always looks tidy and presentable.
- Merchandising: ensure that the pieces in the gallery are presented in an enticing and appealing manner.
- Ad hoc sales-related admin duties: As and when required.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
1. Education
- Matric is essential
2. Work experience and industry exposure
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in high-end sales is essential.
- Interest and knowledge of South African art, advantageous.
3. Strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Well spoken, presentable, able to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients and service providers.
- Able to respond to queries and deal with complaints and manage difficult situations and personalities in a calm and rational manner.
- Strong networking and inter-personal skills.
4. Strong Administration and Organisational Skills
- A self-driven, proactive individual who is able to work autonomously while maintaining open channels of communication with the team.
- Proactive and team oriented, someone who uses their initiative to ensure that service and performance are always to a high standard.
- Highly organized and efficient individual who understands how to prioritise, works well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
5. General
- A fast learner who is able to remember large volumes of information with ease.
- A passion for sales as well as being customer orientated.
- Punctual, reliable and committed with excellent attention to detail
- A highly honest and ethical individual who is comfortable to be on their feet for most of the day.
- Ability to manage confidential information in a discrete and sensitive manner
- “Can do” attitude.
